World Series Game 7 Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total over 50 million viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic finale after the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday epic game drew 27.33M viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game recorded over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series drew 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete US viewership was 16.1 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million watchers, an 8% increase over last year and the network’s best playoff performance after the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
